Texas Instruments' ADS1115 is a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) IC that enables high-fidelity conversion of sensitive analog signals to digital data. This IC offers low power consumption, high accuracy and ease of use in a variety of applications. Here are the key features of ADS1115:
1. Analog Input Channels: ADS1115 has four single-end or two differential analog input channels.
These channels can receive analog signals from various sensors or external sources. Each channel has 16-bit resolution, providing high-accuracy measurements.
2. Programmable Gain Settings: Integrated has the ability to programmably adjust the gain level of analog input signals. This is invaluable for adapting to different application requirements. Gain settings can range from 2/3x to 16x.
3. Internal Reference Voltage: ADS1115 provides an internal reference voltage. This ensures the sensitivity of the integrated circuit without the need for an external reference voltage. The internal reference voltage improves the accuracy of the IC and can be disabled or an external reference used.
4. Low Power Consumption: This IC is designed with low power consumption, making it suitable for portable devices or battery-backed applications. In standby mode, it consumes only microampere level power, which saves power.
5. I2C Interface:ADS1115 connects to microcontrollers using the I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) series communication protocol.
This allows the IC to be easily integrated with a range of microcontrollers and other I2C compatible devices.
ADS1115 is used in industrial control systems, medical devices, sensor interfaces, smart energy management and many other application areas. Thanks to its features that provide high accuracy, low power consumption and flexibility, it is an ideal solution for many applications that require precise measurement.
