New Generation Tesla Optimus: Tesla introduced its new generation humanoid robot "Optimus Gen 2", which has advanced features that can take over repetitive tasks from humans. The new Optimus is significantly improved in both precision and balance.
It is stated that Optimus Gen 2 is 30% faster, lighter and more capable than the previous version. This humanoid robot is now equipped with a more human-like shape, a two-axis neck, articulated legs with integrated electronics and wiring, new hands with force/torque sensors, and touch sensors.
It's been just over two years since Tesla and Elon Musk joined the humanoid robot industry. The company has continuously improved Optimus after the first prototype was introduced in March last year. The new Optimus Gen 2 may be behind some rivals like Boston Dynamics' Atlas robot, but Tesla's rapid pace of development is remarkable.
Tesla's goal goes beyond using Optimus Gen 2 in its own manufacturing operations. The company is working to ensure that the robot can be used in repeatable, reliable and flexible tasks in the real world. Once this goal is achieved, Tesla plans to make Optimus Gen 2 available. Tesla aims to become an important actor in humanoid robots by leveraging its artificial intelligence and electric motor expertise in its driverless vehicle program.
